The CPA Education Foundation has agreed to support a Teaching Award to be presented annually to a member of the Accounting Area.

To be eligible for this award, the individual must have contributed significantly to teaching and learning development of Accounting students through such initiatives as innovative instruction, curriculum development, and service to the students. Nominators are required to outline the candidate’s contribution to teaching excellence, innovative classroom learning, and genuine concern for student improvement.

The recipient of the award will be determined by a committee consisting of the President of the Accounting Students Association (ASA), the Accounting Area Chair (or an Area member nominated by the Area Chair – e.g. the previous year’s award winner), the Associate dean (Undergraduate Programs), and a person to be nominated by the CPA Education Foundation. The Committee will base their decision on nominations from undergraduate students currently taking accounting courses.

The award will be open to all Accounting faculties, with the exception of any member who has received the award in the last two years. The award winner will be determined each year at the end of the Winter term giving students an opportunity to evaluate their instructors for the Fall and Winter terms and make an appropriate nomination.

The award is the form of a personal plaque and an honorarium of $3000. The award will be announced at a Haskayne School of Business Council meeting and the recipient may be honoured at appropriate CPA Education Foundation or Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta functions.

The ASA will take responsibility for soliciting nominations for the award during the academic year and will make presentations to Accounting classes at the end of the Fall and Winter semesters. Nomination forms will be available from the ASA office and at the time of the classroom presentations.

The award is the form of a personal plaque and an honorarium of $3000. The award will be announced at a Haskayne School of Business Council meeting and the recipient may be honoured at appropriate CPA Education Foundation or Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta functions.

Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) Overview

If you’re a top student who wants to get a jump start on the recruiting process, then we’ve got

the program for you this summer.

ELP is one-of-a-kind interactive experience that will help you learn more about our culture,

people and practices while forging relationships with EY’s employees and fellow students.

Qualifying candidates must be at least two years from graduation and studying accounting

and/or business who:

· Hold a significant interest in professional services and a career in business

· Maintain high academic credentials

· Possess integrity, maturity, dependability and enthusiasm in the performance of

responsibilities

· Demonstrate analytical, teamwork and organizational skills, as well as strong verbal

and written communication skills

In 2016 you have the option to attend ELP in one of three of our Canadian offices, please

Emerging Leaders Program – FAQ’s

1. What is the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP)?

It is a 2-day leadership conference for students to explore their potential as a leader. During this

interactive learning experience, students will participate in workshops and team-building activities with

fellow students and EY professionals.

2. When does it take place?

June 9-10, 2016 at the EY Calgary office

3. How do I apply?

Applications must be submitted through the EY website at www.ey.com/ca/apply no later than April 13.

Candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcripts.

4. What are the application criteria?

Students must be in their second or third year of a four-year degree program (third or fourth year of a fiveyear

degree program). Preference will be given to students who are graduating in 2 years. Candidates

should be pursuing a business degree with a focus in accounting and an interest in pursuing the CPA

designation.

5. What is the selection process?

Successful applicants will be contacted for an interview in April. ELP participants will be chosen once all of

the interviews have been completed. All candidates who receive an interview will be notified by April 26 as

to whether they have been selected for ELP.

6. How many positions are available?

There are approximately 25 positions available for the Calgary ELP.

7. What is the Emerging Leaders Summit (ELS)?

The Emerging Leaders Summit is a 3-day conference which will take place in Washington, DC June 22– 24.

The conference will be attended by approximately 275 students from across North America. They will have

the opportunity to hear from global EY leaders and engage in team-building activities. All students

applying for ELP will automatically be considered for ELS. We will be sending 2 students to ELS from

Calgary.
